Insurance services available

  • SSR Combined - Liability schemes underwritten by QBE

Contractors operating in the Security and Fire Protection industries have specific insurance requirements. We have been meeting these requirements for over 30 years.

Whether your client undertakes security services such as manned guarding, keyholding and alarm response, or the installation and maintenance of fire protection products, we have a wide appetite for these often difficult-to-place risks and a specialist wording to provide your clients with the cover they need. You will find that many insurers do not have an appetite for the liability insurance of companies operating in this sector.

Our underwriting team have a wealth of experience in dealing with Security and Fire Protection risks, so you can rest assured that we have a thorough understanding of your clients’ insurance needs. Plus, our dedicated in-house claims handling team know our policy wordings inside out.

You can find full details of the cover available in the policy summary and wordings below, but significant benefits of our scheme including inefficacy up to the full PL limit, damage to that part worked on for alarm, extinguishing or security services (this provides cover for damage to carpets being lifted, for example), wrongful arrest cover up to the full PL limit, criminal/deliberate acts by employees, and bodily injury arising from consultancy and training (specifically for physical intervention training). We also have a great range of optional extensions for your clients, such as financial loss (including products), fidelity bonding, loss and consequential loss of keys, loss of gas from fixed fire extinguishers and service indemnity (to cover damage to motor vehicles while in the insured’s custody).

Although our scheme is liabilities led, we can also offer a full package of covers to include Commercial All Risks, Business Interruption, Contract Works, Professional Indemnity, Property Terrorism, Legal Expenses, Directors & Officers Liability and Fidelity Guarantee.

Product insights

“Inefficacy (failure to perform) cover is particularly important to security contractors – many insurers do not extend cover to include inefficacy, which means the policyholder may not be covered if a security product fails to perform its intended function, of if a security guard fails to perform their intended duties”

Product insights

“Select 'Security Services' for guarding-led risks and 'Security & Fire Protection' for product-led risks. Both wordings feature the same great cover and benefits”

Product insights

“Wet risers and dry risers – what’s the difference? Wet risers are connected to the mains water system, whereas dry risers are not filled with water and therefore require a separate water source.”
